“Otorchin” name stems from the Mongolian word “Otor”, meaning the act of nomadic herders moving in search of better grassland and water away from their degrading pastureland.
Track
Herders are able to track their livestock using satellite GPS trackers.
Assess
They can make decisions on where to move by assessing the grassland map calculated from the satellite images.
Avoid
With up to date weather forecasts, they can avoid climate disasters and be prepared when it happens.
Protect
Protect their livestock and their livelihoods using the SOS feature.
Integrate
We are working on intergratable hardware products to make the lives of the herders easier such as solar panels, batteries, GPS, communicators etc.
In Mongolia, about 1/3 of our population are herders and they are carrying our nomadic culture.
However, due to climate change herders are leaving their nomadic lifestyle of generations.
They face following challenges
Dzud is an extreme cold and harsh winter where millions of livestock die causing the herders to lose their livelihood.

Every year, thousands of herder families lose their livelihood to these disasters and move to the city.
