“Otorchin” name stems from the Mongolian word “Otor”, meaning the act of nomadic herders moving in search of better grassland and water away from their degrading pastureland.
In Mongolia, about 1/3 of our population are herders and they are carrying our nomadic culture.
However, due to climate change herders are leaving their nomadic lifestyle of generations.
They face following challenges
Dzud is an extreme cold and harsh winter where millions of livestock die causing the herders to lose their livelihood.
